Brain Imaging and Cognitive Dysfunction in Pediatric Neuropsychiatric Disorders.

Dr. McDonald's primary research interests are in structural and functional neuroimaging of pediatric populations, particularly those with neurological or neurodevelopmental disorders (traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, cancer, autism spectrum disorders), as well as children at risk for neuropsychiatric disorders. Current funded research projects include investigation of memory and language processing in temporal lobe epilepsy in young children and development of a child and adolescent normative database for clinical fMRI studies. Dr. McDonald is also involved in ongoing research in adult populations, including work at IU examining the cognitive effects of cancer chemotherapy (PI: Andrew Saykin, PsyD), and collaboration with colleagues at Dartmouth Medical School studying adult TBI (PI: Thomas McAllister, MD).
